Chawathil First Nation is currently updating the community’s existing Comprehensive Community Plan (CCP) to provide guidance to leadership and administration in the delivery of community programs, services, infrastructure investment and other initiatives.

Chawathil’s current CCP was developed from 2009-2011.  Many of the action items included in the CCP have been dealt with, causing priorities to shift and projects and initiatives to change.

Chawathil First Nation remains invested in community planning and will undergo updating the existing CCP by conducting a thorough review of the document, making revisions where needed, and extend the initial framework and vision to reflect a 20-year horizon. This update will ensure the CCP aligns with current and emerging needs and trends in the community.

The new CCP will be developed through a collaborative planning process, address all relevant issues and opportunities, and set out an implementation plan to guide the community in putting the plan into action for the short, medium, and long term.

CCPs address the social, physical and economic conditions of all members of a First Nation, including those that reside on-reserve and off-reserve.  The final CCP will be based on input from members living off and on-reserve.

The CCP will provide direction for Chief and Council, staff and the community on key planning areas that include:
