Working Together - As One
RECREATION & YOUTH
Chawathil First Nation's Recreation Department is deeply committed to enhancing the well-being of its community members by providing a variety of cultural, recreational, and leisure activities.
These programs are thoughtfully designed to promote holistic health and personal development, touching on the five domains of health: physical, emotional, social, intellectual, and spiritual.
The focus on personal growth, self-esteem, and connection to the community is integral to fostering a sense of belonging and purpose. The inclusion of culturally relevant programming, along with support for extracurricular activities, shows a commitment to preserving and celebrating traditions while supporting the community’s overall health.
The department’s diverse offerings, from after-school programs to cultural events, contribute to a vibrant and supportive environment where all age groups can benefit. The physical spaces available, like the gymnasium, playgrounds, and baseball field, are excellent resources that further encourage active participation in both individual and group activities. Additionally, the free access to the Hope Recreation Centre enhances the variety of opportunities available for recreation and social engagement.
Financial assistance for sports and extracurricular programs also ensures that financial barriers are minimized, enabling youth to fully participate in activities that promote their development. This holistic approach can help nurture a strong, resilient community that values each individual’s growth and well-being.
